By accessing or using DevProof ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. DevProof reserves the right to update these terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

DevProof is a developer verification platform that:

• Connects to your GitHub account via OAuth to verify repository ownership
• Calculates a DevProof Score based on public repository metadata
• Provides public leaderboards and profile pages for verified developers
• Offers a public API for embedding developer profiles and badges

3. Account Registration

To use DevProof, you must authenticate via GitHub OAuth. By doing so, you:

• Confirm you are at least 13 years of age
• Authorize DevProof to access your public GitHub profile and repository metadata
• Agree to provide accurate information and not impersonate others
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

4. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to:

• Manipulate or game the DevProof scoring system through artificial means
• Create fake repositories or inflate metrics to improve your score
• Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the Service
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users of the platform
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations

5. Intellectual Property

Your Content: You retain all rights to your GitHub repositories and code. DevProof only accesses public metadata and does not claim ownership of your work.

Our Content: The DevProof name, logo, scoring algorithm, and platform design are proprietary. You may not copy, modify, or distribute these without permission, except for embedding official DevProof badges on your personal sites.

6. API Terms

DevProof provides a public API for embedding profiles and badges. By using the API, you agree to:

• Respect rate limits and not abuse the API endpoints
• Not use the API for commercial purposes without prior written consent
• Attribute DevProof when displaying API data (unless using official embed widgets)
• Accept that API access may be revoked for violations of these terms

7. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using DevProof, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Accuracy of DevProof scores or rankings
• Continuous, uninterrupted access to the Service
• Fitness for any particular purpose
• Non-infringement of third-party rights

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEVPROOF SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these terms. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination:

• Your profile will be removed from public leaderboards
• Your data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy
• Any API access will be immediately revoked

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which DevProof operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
